Do you like living in a democracy? This is the scariest legislation I have ever seen. I thought ID cards and the National Identity Register were bad, but that's just peanuts to this. We need to start campaigning - write to your MP, hand out flyers, and link to the Save Parliament website.
Well, enjoy it while you can, because it might not last much longer if the UK government get their way.
The boringly-named Legislative and Regulatory Reform Bill is in fact a very dangerous piece of legislation. It grants any minister the ability to amend, replace, or repeal existing legislation. The frightening thing is this: they would be able to make major changes to the law without Parliament being able to examine it properly, taking away the ability of Parliament to meaningfully represent the citizens of this country.
Failing that, cheap farmhouses in the north of France suddenly look very attractive indeed.

The Lib Dems are protesting against this, but I think it needs to be scrapped, not modified.
A very similar piece of legislation was passed in Germany in 1933 (just after Hitler came to power, in the significance of the date was lost on anyone).

In fact, *don't* link to the Save Parliament website, that kind of dramatist crap never washes because it seemse hyperbolic, regardless of how accurate it actually is.
They *are* right however, and this is a very important piece of legislation.
Everyone should be using http://www.writetothem.comand letting their MP know what they think of it.
Don't put it off, just send a five line mail right now!
