DVD for sale

Anybody want to buy Babylon 5: Legend of the Rangers? Only £11.
The Shadow War has ended, leaving hundreds of civilisations devastated by the conflict. It is up to the ISA, with the help of the Rangers, to rebuild what the great war destroyed and to maintain peace among the worlds of the ISA. The Legend of the Rangers pilot movie deals with the Ranger crew of the Liandra, a semi-organic ship based on Minbari technology. The Rangers encounter a previously unknown alien race, called the Hand, whose lethal power is far greater than any force previously known to Earth or any other world in the Interstellar Alliance. The Legend Of The Rangers is a movie spin off from the hugely popular Babylon 5 series.

Nick and I both bought a copy of this at the same time, so now I'm selling the surplus one.

Eugh! Good luck, gal! That is one pile of smelly kitty litter. What a waste of Andreas Katsulas' acting talents. Such a great series but the spin-offs have mostly been mediocre at best or dreadful at worst.

My SF book group covered Alfred Bester's The Demolish Man this month. 20 years since I last read it and it was amazing to see how much J M Straczynski borrowed for his telepaths in Bab 5 (not just Al's name!). Hmm, if it wasn't for Al Bester and Tolkien, would Babylon 5 only have run for a couple of seasons?!?!

Ah well, I've sold it now (that was quick!)

Haven't watched Legend of the Rangers yet. I agree that Third Space wasn't very good though.

Well, at least Straczynski acknowledges his sources I suppose. And the episode The Deconstruction of Falling Stars got me to read A Canticle for Leibowitz - so it does make you go back to the sources.

Personally I prefer the model of telepaths in Julian May's Saga of the Exiles.

Our SF book group is reading The Memory of Whiteness by Kim Stanley Robinson at the moment.
