grass roots resistance

philwilson.org: Bristol Council opposes ID cards. Excellent. Well spotted, Phil. This is good - if local councils oppose ID cards, it will be much more difficult to implement them. Nice to know there's people in politics with a conscience.

Being in the US I am not sure what the issue is. Everyone here in the US has some form of ID whether a drivers license or an ID. Is there something I don't know about?
